technically, today is day 36. I lost track of the days about two weeks ago when I realized that I wouldn’t be able to finish exactly on day 30 because of being on vacation in montana. so I just decided it didn’t really matter.
since I started this challenge, I seem to have lost two pounds (which isn’t really an accurate number since I forgot to weigh myself before I ate breakfast today) and I’ve gained a lot of confidence and a bit of muscle. there isn’t a huge difference in my body (like at all) but it’s enough that I don’t have mini panic attacks when I wear my swimsuit around friends. I think that even though I kind of lost the spirit of the challenge itself two thirds of the way through, I met my goals pretty well. I am not going to stop the habits I’ve gained and that’s all I needed from this, to be honest.
the best part about everything is my mom has really started to change her lifestyle too. I didn’t tell her that I was doing a challenge per se, but just express a desire to get healthier/more fit. now we’ve both had a shift in mentality and can help each other continue to evolve our habits. we weren’t exactly terrible eaters before (as in probably better than 99% of the general american public), but we’ve started to look at how foods and activities affect our bodies and adjust our lives in accordance with what makes us feel best. essentially we’re taking control of our bodies and our health and not listening to the rules that society has constructed. we don’t care about calories, instead we pay attention to nutrients and the little signals inside us.
I’m going to take this mentality and figure out what is causing the migraines I have all the time. doctors haven’t been able to figure it out for over a year, but I need answers and I’m going to do this myself.
basically this challenge was a success, and I think I’ll enter officially next time.
